Great painting

I have always liked this painting, but didn't realize that it was of John Brown until today. Knowing that adds a whole new dimension. Suddenly his pose makes sense and he changes from a crazed looking messiah to a martyr in the pose of a cross, or is he a crazed messiah? I could look at it for hours, wondering which it is. That's what's interesting about it. There is so much information packed into the images that it takes a lot of understanding and knowledge to appreciate the symbolism. Weird how a little bit of information can totally change how you look at something.

We had such a fun time in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl that I decided to write a letter to the editor thanking the city for a great time.

I would like to congratulate and thank the city of New Orleans for providing us a great experience during our recent visit to watch the Sugar Bowl.

Four of us converged on New Orleans from points across the country. We were very impressed by the variety of experiences, from great restaurants, to excellent music, to an intriguing atmosphere.

However, we were most impressed by the friendliness of your city. We were treated well by smiling, friendly people across the city from the French Quarter to the Garden District.

We are looking forward to our next visit. Go Utes!
